Diversity, Equality & Inclusivity Policy

The Lodge is passionate about providing a supportive and inclusive culture within our salon and amongst our workforce and we take an active stance in opposing all forms of discrimination.

We WILL;

  • Create an environment that promotes dignity and respect for every staff member and client.

  • Promote equality.

  • Encourage anyone who feels they have been subject to discrimination to raise their concerns so we can apply corrective measures.

  • Ensure that everyone working at the salon treats all clients with dignity and respect

  • Fully comply with all Laws and Directives

We will NOT;

  • Tolerate any form of intimidation, bullying, harassment or discrimination

  • discriminate directly or indirectly because of age, gender, disability, sex, gender reassignment, pregnancy, maternity, race (which includes colour, nationality and ethnic or national origins), sexual orientation, religion or belief, or because someone is married or in a civil partnership. These are known as "protected characteristics”

  • discriminate unlawfully against customers, contractors, suppliers or visitors using or attempting to use the goods, facilities and services that we provide.

We will never refuse a treatment based on the grounds of a protected characteristic but we reserve the right to refuse to treat anyone if we believe that there is a risk to our safety, wellbeing or mental health.

OUR PLEDGE

We are committed to meeting the needs of our diverse clients and we will take steps to identify the needs of our clients and develop policies and procedures accordingly. We aim to ensure that the services we provide are accessible to all. We will take into account in particular, the needs of disabled clients including people with mental health problems and clients who are unable to communicate effectively in English, including those who are deaf.

We will consider whether particular groups are predominant within our client base and devise appropriate policies / procedures to meet their needs.

INCLUSIVITY

We believe that every person deserves a treatment in a safe, inclusive environment. We want you to know that ALL men & women are welcome and we 100% support the LGBTQI+ community. We consider the term ‘woman’ to refer to anyone who identifies as female regardless of biology. We consider the term ‘man’ to refer to anyone who identifies as male regardless of biology. If you do not identify as either male or female, we have ensured that you do not have to specify a gender when making a booking; however, if you choose to select ‘non-binary’ we will endeavour to ensure that the correct pronouns are used.

We are happy to treat people in any stage of transition and we encourage you to call us with any questions regarding your treatments.

For some intimate treatments, if we specify ‘male only’ or ‘female only’, we will specify  our definition of the term below:

  • For the purpose of bikini wax, Stephanie Dean is a female-only therapist. The term female-only for this purpose is ‘Anyone whose gender at birth was female and still retains female genitalia even if they no longer identify as female or anyone whose gender at birth was male but they have completed MtF Gender Confirmation surgery’.

  • INTIMATE WAXING - Female Only - The term female-only for this purpose is ‘Anyone whose gender at birth was female and still retains female genitalia even if they no longer identify as female or anyone whose gender at birth was male but they have completed MtF Gender Confirmation surgery’.

DISABILITY

At The Lodge, we recognise that the term disability covers a broad range of issues from physical restrictions, mental restrictions, anxiety, depression, and chronic illness. We have made every attempt to cater for all forms of disability including (but not limited to;)

  • Disabled parking spaces

  • Flat level access to the whole salon

  • Disabled Access toilets and treatment room

  • Single storey, well lit areas for visually impaired

  • Adjustable lighting/sound & silent treatments for anyone with sensory disability

  • Longer treatment time can be given to people suffering with anxiety

  • Carers & support workers are welcome to attend with you

We will assess every person's individual situation and make all reasonable adjustments to meet your needs and we encourage you to call us with any questions regarding your treatment, access & adjustment.
